Job description
Build the Future of How Companies Work
Mainstream is the leading cloud provider in Southeast Europe. Now we're taking the next step - becoming an AI-native company by rethinking how work gets done from the ground up.
We're redesigning processes, building new products and automating the way teams operate, collaborate, make decisions and manage their work.
To help us do that, we're looking for a Senior Product Engineer - Future of Work: a builder who understands how companies operate and can turn real business and operational problems into products that make work better.
This is not a traditional software engineering role. You won't receive a backlog of predefined requirements and simply implement them. You'll have the freedom to identify problems worth solving, rethink how things could work, shape the product and build the solution.
AI will be part of both how you build and what you build. But you don't need to be an AI expert. AI is a tool. The job is to build better ways of working.
What you'll do
· Own products and initiatives end-to-end - from problem discovery and ideation to product definition, planning, development, rollout and
continuous improvement
· Work directly with teams across the company to understand their business needs, processes, pain points and opportunities
· Rethink and redesign how work gets done - don't just digitize existing processes
· Turn business and operational problems into simple, useful products, workflows and automations
· Shape the product, not just the implementation - help decide what should be built, why, for whom and how it should work
· Design and build solutions across areas such as service operations, project and task management, knowledge, performance, reporting,
monitoring and business workflows
· Connect existing tools and systems through APIs, integrations and automation
· Take solutions from idea to production, drive their adoption and continuously improve them based on real-world usage
· Use modern development tools, including AI-assisted coding, and explore how AI and agents can create meaningful value
Job requirements
We're looking for an unusual combination of business understanding, product thinking and hands-on engineering.
· 5+ years of combined experience across software engineering, product development, operations or related roles
· Strong understanding of how organizations, business processes and operations work
· Strong product mindset - ability to take an ambiguous business problem, understand the underlying need and design a practical solution
· Strong hands-on software development skills - you can independently turn an idea into a working product
· Experience designing or improving workflows, processes or business applications
· Ability to work directly with users and stakeholders and translate their problems into products
· Experience with APIs, integrations, databases and modern web applications
· Ability to operate independently and take ownership from problem discovery to adoption
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Fluent English
Your career path doesn't need to be purely engineering. We're particularly interested in people who have combined software development with experience in roles such as Product Manager, Product Owner, Operations Manager, Solutions Architect or Implementation Consultant.
Nice to have
· Experience in B2B SaaS, enterprise software, IT services or managed services, ideally across different customers or operating models
· Understanding of cloud infrastructure, managed services, IT operations, DevOps, monitoring or cybersecurity
· Experience with enterprise workflow, productivity or business platforms such as ServiceNow, Jira, SAP, Salesforce, Workday, Monday,
Asana or Linear
· Hands-on experience with AI agents and bots, workflow automation, system and API integrations, RAG and knowledge systems,
monitoring and observability, analytics and reporting, or infrastructure automation
· Experience with AI-assisted software development
Deep AI expertise is not required. We value the ability to understand problems, learn quickly and build useful products far more than expertise in any specific AI technology.
What we value
· Business understanding - you want to understand how the business works and why before building
· Product thinking - you start with the problem, not the feature request
· Builder mentality - you like turning ideas into something people can actually use
· Ownership - you take responsibility for outcomes, not just deliverables
· Curiosity - you're comfortable moving between business, technology, operations and different domains
· Simplicity and pragmatism - you look for the simplest solution that creates real value
Why join Mainstream?
· Help shape Mainstream's journey toward becoming an AI-native company
· Create products, not just implement requirements - own the journey from discovering a problem to seeing your solution used in everyday
work
· Work across business, product, operations and technology, with significant autonomy over what gets built
· Develop your skills in an AI-first environment - learn how to use AI to expand what you can design, build and deliver
· Learn by building - experiment hands-on with AI-assisted development, agents, automation and emerging technologies on real business
problems
· Broaden your expertise beyond a single role or technology by working across different business domains and types of problems
· See the impact of what you build quickly
